How to Instant Message with Parents/Portal Members
This guide outlines how to use the instant messaging system to communicate with parents.
Parents or portal members can send instant messages to childcare staff and admin, through their parent portal.
The message icon is located at the top of the screen.Any time a new message is sent, you will see the notification in this message. The number reflects the number of unread message threads.
- Click the message icon to open up messages.
- A list of families opens. A number will display beside the family name if there are any unread messages. The number indicates how many unread messages there are.
- If you want to send a message to a family or portal member, you can search by name in the Search bar.
- Click the family name to expand the message area. Select the portal member who sent the message (indicated by the colour green) to view the unread messages. If you would like to send a new message to any parent, follow these same directions.
- Click the parent or guardian's name to open up the message box. View or enter your new message.
- If you are sending a new message or reply, enter your text in the box and then click the green Send icon.
Filter by Group or Room
- To filter messages by group or room, select the Group Filter icon and select which room or group you would like to view messages for. This will make it easier to view only messages for a specific room/group.
Enable Bulk Messaging - Send to Multiple Parents at Once
- To send a message to multiple members at once, such as all parents of a particular group or room, select the Bulk Message icon.
- Select all members you would like to send the message to.
- Enter the message and click the Send to All icon.
